Did you know LinkedIn reports that 85% of jobs are filled via networking? People in your circle of influence know about positions right now that aren’t posted on job boards. The vast majority of these opportunities will never be listed on job boards – even executive job boards.
Layers of networking include personal connections, in-person events (meetups, conferences, hackathons, etc.), LinkedIn/online and alumni associations from attended universities/schools. Break out of your comfort zone by attending in-person or virtual events that may intimidate you! You’re better off being in a room of people who already have jobs in data science vs. a room full of people looking for jobs.
Remember, it only takes one conversation to change the entire trajectory of your job search.
